1. Reclaimed Materials
Including organic objects into your interiors will add an aura of calm to your spaces — a defining characteristic of cottage style. While you can look around your property for items such as stones, driftwood and flower cuttings, for a more permanent impact, include reclaimed materials, like antique timbers, rescued barn siding, wood flooring and salvaged mantels, into your design. The patina and texture of these old wood pieces will bring a lived-in, collected-over-time look to even a newly constructed space.
